Beguiling, orchestral and lush, Melbourne band The Wishing Well create spellbinding sounds which produce a rich tapestry of mesmerizing folk, pop and rock.

Performing together for just over twelve months, they are relative newcomers to the scene, The Wishing Well however come with an impressive musical maturity and remarkable background. Lead singer Jai Larkan has previously supported artists such as Bob Geldof, Andy White and Tim Finn.

Clearly The Wishing Well have defined their craft in a remarkably timeframe together, having played an impressive 130 gigs on the live national circuit, including playing at the Queenscliff Music Festival.

Music Oz Awards finalists in 2007, The Wishing Well evoke an extraordinary gamut of emotions with their compelling and awe-inspiring arrangements spun around magnificently poetic lyrics. A cacophony of three part harmonies, wistful violin and majestic rhythms all melded to lead singer Jai Larkan’s achingly strong and haunting vocals. Life On The Border is The Wishing Well’s debut single, which is rich in textural depth, building gradually to dizzying heights only to momentarily pause and cascade into an orchestral crescendo.

The song’s greatest strength lies within the poetry of the lyrics. Songwriter Jai Larkan conjures up such a vivid sentiment of being on the precipice of life, letting go of the past and facing ones fears.

In the melodic tradition of Ryan Adams, David Gray, Dave Matthews Band and The Waterboys, The Wishing Well’s first single Life On The Border appeals to lovers of emotive lyrics and melody. Their inspiring live performances captivate audiences and have created an enthusiastic and ever-growing fanbase.

Life On The Border will be celebrated by a tour beginning in February that will see the band wind it’s way to Newcastle’s Northern Star Hotel.

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

I heard you for the first time playing in the Melbourne CBD on the weekend. I was completely mesmerised and I had shivers up and down my spine listening to your music.

I didn't get the chance to purchase a cd....I would love to next time around. Are you playing here anytime soon?

Hey guys. I had a few hours to kill waiting for the train Sunday @ Flinders Street Station when I was lucky enough to see you play.
2 hours later after standing in the crowd watching you for that long (I had the Crowded House t-shirt on!), you'd made me a fan and I had to buy a copy of your CD.
You guys were amazing... love your style & hope to see you play again sometime (I live 200 km away from Melbourne, so unlikely!)... thank you for the free gig.
